MECHANICAL ENGINEER III

Ampex is a small, fast-paced, growing aerospace company looking for a highly motivated and organized Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team in developing leading data management solution products for aerospace applications. General Overview:
Ampex is seeking a candidate with a strong educational background in mechanical engineering. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment throughout the engineering development life cycle process.
This position is to be filled onsite in Hayward, CA. No employer visa sponsorship is available.
Principal Duties:
- Report to the Hardware Engineering Manager
- Review of physical requirements imposed on the design object
- Select materials to meet design and production requirements
- Conceptual and finished design on a CAD system
- Verify the ability to efficiently fabricate and assemble (DFM)
- Produce fabrication drawings of piece parts and assembly drawings
- Review dimensioning and tolerancing called out on drawings
- Verify assembly of fabricated parts to verify the design
- Develop system work/assembly instructions
- Document and maintain design configuration data
- Oversee environmental testing and reporting (thermal, humidity, altitude)
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related degree (MS preferred)
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in mechanical development
- Experience in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks preferred)
- Good understanding of conductive and convective heat transfer as applied to design
- Good understanding of environmental testing and reporting (Shock, vibration, thermal, humidity, altitude)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation:
· Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000 annually (based on experience)
