JOB SUMMARY:
The Sales Director will work closely with all internal partners and be the key contact and our “face” to one of the company's largest big box customers This position will have responsibility for the entirety of the company’s business and have reporting relationship to our Sales EVP and have accountability for a business analyst direct report. Other key partners in driving the business will include the CMO, Product team, production planning, customer service, and product development. The Business Director is responsible for maintaining the customers base of the business with a focus on growth in new and existing categories and departments.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for maintaining the key customers base of business with a focus on growth in new and existing categories and departments
· With the help of the EVP of sales, develop the annual sales plan
- Work cross functionally to deliver the annual sales plan and associated margin goals
- Present brands and products in a manner that is aligned with established values
- Establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel at the Retailer
- Establish strong, productive internal relationships
- Act on internal and external data to retain current business while gaining share—both brick and mortar and digital
- Work cross functionally with lead merchandiser to create winning product assortments on a seasonal/annual basis.
- Be viewed as a cross functional leader
- Manage customer deductions and post audits as necessary
- Collaborate with internal resources (logistics, planning, product, leadership) to achieve objectives, provide flawless service, and meet revenue and margin goals
· Proactively assess, clarify and validate customer needs, on an ongoing basis
· Be a proactive voice of the customer internally
- Complete understanding of the customer's internal structure, business practices and go to market strategies
- Be a hands-on expert in all of the customer's software platforms (PO creation, POS and Inventory reporting, internal and external item creation, etc)
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
· BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field. MBA is preferred
- 10+ years of experience in Sales or Business Development in Mass Channel
- Big Box Experience is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in managing a customer level P&L
- Strong team leadership, influencing, presentation, negotiation, analytical and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to understand, set and change priorities to reflect customer requirements and/or internal goals
- Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Canva & PowerPoint
· Ability to travel, up to 20%
· Must be okay to work in a dog friendly office
