Senior Cloud Engineer

Role Overview: The Senior Cloud Engineer will lead cloud development initiatives on Google Cloud, focusing on transitioning bioinformatics applications from traditional in-house servers to a scalable web platform. The ideal candidate will be a Google Cloud expert with strong experience in web-based application development, backend APIs, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain cloud environments (development, staging, production).
- Collaborate with external software development teams.
- Monitor cloud health and control operational costs with IT.
- Engage in backend development and cloud component integration.
- Design APIs and perform code reviews while mentoring junior engineers.
- Ensure compliance with CI/CD best practices and security protocols.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in Google Cloud technologies (GKE, Gcloud, Terraform, etc.).
- Extensive experience in web-based application development with a focus on backend APIs.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of working with contract software teams.
- Experience in a small but fast-growing organization.
