As a Sr. Vehicle Development & Validation Engineer at Meyers Manx, you will play a pivotal role in the development of our dune buggies, focusing on the vehicle integration, bring up and validation. Join our dynamic team to lead the charge in designing, engineering, and developing the next generation of Meyers Manx vehicles.
Technical Responsibilities
- Lead development of test procedures and judgement to assess vehicle and system performance for powertrain, thermal system, HV battery, and software.
- Design and conduct specialized tests tailored to assess specific vehicle systems such as thermal performance tests, powertrain performance, etc.
- Support vehicle bring up, triage and issue resolution through the prototype builds
- Support required HW upfits, SW flashing and diagnosis through CAN, LIN communication.
- Be responsible for the assigned test vehicles, maintain HW and SW configurations, service and utilization history of those vehicles.
- Support instrumentation including installation of thermocouples (Type J, K and T), video cameras, strain gauges, accelerometers, load transducers, data acquisition systems, etc.
- Plan and execute vehicle level dynamic and static test activities per test plans developed in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Be responsible for retrieving, storing and analyzing logged data from tests and comparing design specifications.
- Write detailed test reports recording subjective and objective findings and any issues.
- Manage all open Issues discovered on test with the responsible Design Engineers until a design countermeasure is achieved and plan for validation by retest, CAE simulation, or other means to close out open issues.
- Manage test cost, schedule, scope, and risk throughout the program lifecycle and maintain critical path timing.
- Support vehicle level durability, reliability, corrosion test programs.
- Work efficiently and in close collaboration with hardware, software, and testing teams.
- Support the development of test cases and verification of system-level functions on multiple mediums (benches, lab cars, and vehicles).
Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role within the Automotive/Motorsport industry
- Experience running and maintaining a variety of vehicle level tests including Powertrain Performance, Powertrain Durability, Thermal & HVAC Performance, Interoperability Tests, Coast Down, Range, etc.
- Hands-on instrumentation experience with variety of sensors including thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gauges, IMU, LVDTs, etc.
- Proficiency in using specialized testing equipment, data acquisition systems, and analysis software including SoMat, Dewesoft, Aptiv, Intrepid, Vector CAN, etc.
- Proving ground and on-road / on-track experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
Preferred Requirements
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in similar role within Automotive/Motorsport industry Experience developing and validating off-road vehicles
- Experience running proving grounds based durability tests
- Experience with automotive software validation
