Job Description
This position supports the project management group by providing design review, development of specifications and overall support of plant electrical, instrumentation and controls projects. This individual will be expected to have a high level of knowledge of plant systems that include; electrical switchgear, motor control centers, VFDs, actuated valves, transmitters, PLC and DCS systems. Working with related discipline engineers the ECI engineer will provide guidance on how to best select and integrate new equipment into the plant. \
Responsibilities
- Participates in project meetings, staying informed of project status and actively supporting the project’s technical needs as the instrumentation, controls and electrical subject matter expert.
- Support the company’s LNG facilities as necessary to troubleshoot problems related to installed systems.
- Assists Project Manager and Lead Engineer in the successful implementation of projects including supporting the planning, execution, development, engineering, and project management of LNG capital projects.
- Ensures all work is performed in accordance with NFPA 59A, 70E, 40 CFR 193, Article 500 of the NEC and all other applicable codes and standards.
- Assists in the development of project budgets, estimates project costs, prepares bid specifications, performs equipment analysis and selection.
- Responds to submittals and RFIs allowing for their timely response.
- Supports the development of new process and equipment procedures. Records information to ensure project is appropriately documented for future regulatory review.
Qualifications
- Experience working as part of an engineering, maintenance, technology or construction project team in support of power, manufacturing or process plant construction and maintenance.
- Must deal with short time frames and handle multiple competing priorities
- Must be independently motivated and able to work without detailed direction.
- Must support on site construction activities, monitoring quality and providing feedback.
- Must have a strong ability to interpret drawings and other technical documents.
- Must have a strong understanding of the technical principles of AC and DC power, hazardous area classifications, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, VFDs, motors, UPS systems, instrumentation, actuated valves, fiber optics, analog and digital controls and systems, and other engineering skills as they relate to process plants.
Education/Experience
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in electrical, computers, mechanical, chemical, process, petroleum, or other related engineering discipline, plus eight (8) years work experience; OR
- Associate’s Degree in electrical, computers, mechanical, chemical, process, petroleum, or other related engineering discipline, plus ten (10) years work experience; OR
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant work experience in electrical, computers, mechanical, chemical, process, petroleum, or other related engineering discipline.
Licenses & Certifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) (Preferred)
- Massachusetts Master or Journeyman Electrical License (Preferred)
- ISA Certification (Preferred)
