As the Senior HVAC Engineer serving as the Owner’s Representative for a greenfield battery manufacturing facility in Arizona, you will oversee the design and implementation of all HVAC systems by the design company. Your primary role is to ensure that HVAC systems are designed to meet the owner’s objectives, energy efficiency goals, and regulatory standards, while providing a comfortable, safe, and reliable environment for manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the HVAC design process conducted by the design company, ensuring alignment with project requirements, local Arizona codes, and U.S. national HVAC standards.
- Review and approve HVAC design documents, including calculations, drawings, and specifications, to ensure they meet the owner’s sustainability and efficiency objectives.
- Collaborate with the design team to resolve HVAC-related design issues and ensure compliance with project schedules and budgets.
- Act as the main point of contact for HVAC-related matters, facilitating communication between the design company, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring that HVAC system design and installation are on schedule and meet quality and cost expectations.
- Provide expert advice on HVAC system design considerations, such as ventilation, cooling, and air quality control for a battery manufacturing environment.
- Ensure that HVAC systems are designed to accommodate Arizona’s climate, including extreme heat conditions, and meet energy efficiency standards.
- Promote the use of sustainable HVAC design practices and systems to meet environmental and energy-saving goals.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to integrate HVAC systems into the overall facility design.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in HVAC design, particularly in Arizona, is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering, with experience in large-scale industrial facilities preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC design standards, energy efficiency codes, and Arizona climate considerations.
