Job Title: Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager (AME Manager)

Reports To: Operational Leader - PBU
Position Overview
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) Manager will lead and coordinate the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering initiatives for the Product Business Unit (PBU). This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in global manufacturing strategies, driving world-class manufacturing processes and achieving cost efficiency through global standardization. The AME Manager will report functionally to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Responsibilities
PBU Focus
- Leadership & Coordination: Act as the functional lead for all PBU Advanced Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineers, guiding the team in process development and improvement.
- Technology Roadmap: Collaborate with Operations Leaders and global AME SMEs to execute and deploy Technology Roadmaps for the PBU.
- Process & Capital Management: Oversee process development, capital acquisition, and process validation while supporting the management of the PBU capital budget, providing monthly updates on spend and forecast to the AME Director and Finance teams.
- DFMA Feasibility: Work closely with Product Engineering to support Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA) feasibility reviews.
- Global Standards Communication: Ensure PBU plants are aligned with global equipment standards and controls for monitoring and maintenance.
- Technical Direction: Support or manage the technical direction for equipment installations and start-ups, ensuring successful execution.
- KPI Achievement: Drive improvements in Machine Utilization (MU) and Capacity Utilization (CU) within the PBU to meet key performance indicator (KPI) goals.
- Best Practices Implementation: Direct the implementation of equipment Best Business Practices across the PBU to maintain consistency and efficiency.
- Capital Approval: Collaborate with the Operations Leader and Director of AME to approve all equipment Capital Acquisition Requests (CARs) for the PBU, ensuring adherence to equipment specifications and strategies.
- New Product Development: Engage with New Product Development teams to ensure new products utilize the latest manufacturing processes and are designed for optimal manufacturability.
Global Focus – Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Manufacturing Strategy Leadership: Serve as a global SME for assigned process areas, leading the development and execution of global manufacturing strategies.
- Global Technology Roadmap: Partner with the Director of AME to develop and implement a Global Technology Roadmap aimed at standardizing and improving technologies across manufacturing sites.
- Global Equipment Standards: Define and implement global equipment standards and controls to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- MU and CU Guidance: Provide global oversight and guidance on equipment MU and CU to meet key performance goals across facilities.
- Best Business Practices: Direct the adoption of global Best Business Practices for manufacturing equipment across all facilities.
- Capital Approval: Work with Operations Leaders and the Director of AME to approve all equipment CARs for assigned process areas, ensuring alignment with global equipment strategies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred) with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in assigned process areas, with experience leading global manufacturing initiatives.
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and other Internet and email software.
- Leadership & Communication: Proven leadership experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Operations Management, with strong communication and team leadership abilities.
- Program Management: Strong project management skills, including experience with timeline management and reporting.
- Lean & Six Sigma Expertise: Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, one-piece flow, and related manufacturing techniques, with a track record of successful deployment.
- Machine & Capacity Utilization: Deep knowledge of Machine Utilization (MU) and Capacity Utilization (CU) management.
- CAD Data Management: Ability to use CAD data files for engineering and tooling collaboration with global suppliers.
- Equipment Standards Development: Experience developing and comparing equipment standards and specifications.
- Matrix Organization Experience: Ability to navigate and work effectively in a multi-tiered matrix organization.
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 75% of the time as needed.
