Rates: $50-$55/hr.; Based on Experience

Capstone IT is assisting our client, a leading energy services provider in the oil and gas industry, in hiring an IT Project Manager for a long-term contract position. This hybrid role requires onsite presence from Tuesday to Thursday at one of their office locations in Omaha, NE, Des Moines, or Davenport, IA. As part of a billion-dollar project, the focus will be on leading business transformation initiatives and integrating third-party vendor applications within the client’s IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include developing project plans, coordinating IT software and hardware implementations, and managing projects from initiation through completion. You will oversee project scope, budgets, and timelines, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure projects meet company objectives and comply with regulatory standards in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale, complex projects and a proven track record in senior or leadership roles. Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders are essential to align project goals and ensure the seamless integration of third-party solutions. A strategic mindset and effective communication will be key to driving project success, directly contributing to the company’s operational efficiency and growth.
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects through all phases, including initiation, planning, execution, control, and implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with Project Sponsors and Product Owners to define project vision, objectives, scope, and deliverables.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations to ensure successful project execution.
- Coordinate and oversee project activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and organizational objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring product quality, adaptability, and compatibility with project requirements.
- Facilitate requirements gathering, user story definition, and estimation sessions to define project scope and deliverables.
- Lead Test Strategy discussions to ensure thorough product testing and quality assurance.
- Identify and allocate project resources, ensuring teams meet project needs.
- Monitor and report on project progress, using metrics to track performance against budget, schedule, and scope.
- Develop and maintain relationships with hardware, software, consulting, and vendor partners to support project success.
- Manage project risks through identification, quantification, and mitigation strategies.
- Participate in project budget preparation and manage project costs to meet financial targets.
- Evaluate user requests for new or modified systems, ensuring feasibility and alignment with current infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field; a Master’s degree is (preferred).
- At least 7+ years of relevant experience in IT project management, with a minimum of 2+ years in a senior or leadership role.
- Proficiency in project management tools (Oracle Primavera, MS Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, and MS Office).
- Expertise in Business Transformation and Third-Party Vendor Management (required).
- Experience with planning, control, and defect tracking software, including (MS Project, Enterprise Project Server, and Jira).
- PMP Certification (preferred).
- Experience with Scrum and Kanban Agile methodologies.
- Strong understanding of (SDLC).
- Proven ability to manage project scope, budget, and timelines effectively.
- Knowledge of IT terms, equipment, systems, functions, and major vendors.
- Ability to identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues effectively.
- Ability to understand, communicate, and present technical concepts effectively.
- Experience with regulatory compliance standards such as (NAESB).
- Strong interpersonal, team building, and relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
