JOB SUMMARY FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:
- Mechanical engineer-III for Engine Installation and Cooling team supporting Off Highway Trucks and Wheel Tractor Scraper products with research and development, investigate designs, functionality and maintenance of products, equipment, designs, systems, and processes.
- A typical mechanical engineer is expected to have the ability to develop/update design/engineering changes, read and interpret drawings/blueprints. Understand and investigate design/manufacturing process, identify issues, and provide timely resolutions to NPI/CPI/BIQ/Shop support/DA etc. The job also requires heavy integration of various components and subsystems within the area of engine and cooling installations.
- Work schedule: Onsite, Monday-Friday, First Shift
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:
- Research and develop design, process, manufacture, test/validation of components, systems, sub-systems, and complex systems related to Engine and Cooling Installation team.
- Research and analyze current/conceptual designs/proposals w.r.t specifications/requirements, conduct time and cost feasibility and provide recommendations and complete projects.
- Investigate equipment failures, assembly concerns and difficulties, diagnose/troubleshoot faulty operations, and make recommendation.
- Develop conceptual designs by applying design principles to meet requirements.
- Review final designs within/outside team for further development, analysis, testing and evaluate on machine products using tools, equipment, or software.
- Conduct timely design/quality gate reviews as well as lead issue management.
- Ability to create design concepts for complex engineering systems. (Tube/hose routings, simple and complex fabricated steel structures, mounting systems and non-metallic components).
- Adhere to APQP process for design and collaborate with supplier to meeting print requirements.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering required.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:
- (Required)
- Knowledge and experience with problem solving analysis – determining root cause, trouble shoot, concept generation, etc.
- Product development experience including Product design, validation test and/or simulation.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross functional teams and deliver proven, high-quality, cost-effective designs within committed timelines.
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts

- Experience in Engine Installation and Cooling systems (EIC) design/develop.
- Experience in working with assembly/manufacturing/first responder/troubleshoot systems and subsystems on products.
- Prior Caterpillar experience.
- Experience with Creo software, 3D Visualization, Teamcenter.
