An innovative and rapidly expanding semiconductor start-up based in Santa Barbara, CA, is specializing in heterogeneous integration. As a pioneer in this field, the company is the first to focus on heterogeneous RF semiconductor solutions.
Responsibilities:
The Mmwave IC Design Engineer will be responsible for developing core products for the start-up's heterogeneous integration platform, which combines silicon and compound semiconductor technologies. The role will encompass designing analog circuitry to millimeter-wave circuits, with some involvement in basic digital control elements. Collaboration within the Design Group is essential to create high-performance circuits across various integrated circuit platforms, while also considering testing, packaging, and verification strategies to reduce product costs. The engineer will work closely with the manufacturing team and other key stakeholders. Candidates should excel in a hands-on, independent role and demonstrate leadership capabilities.
Qualifications
• Deep understanding of analog, radio-frequency and millimeter-wave circuit design
• Deep understanding of radio-frequency design concepts such as analysis of noise, linearity, mismatch, stability, and other analog impairments
• Familiarity with various transceiver architectures and their trade-offs, system specifications and ability to translate system into circuit requirements at the IC level
• Ability to design circuit blocks up to 100 GHz and advise on testing strategies
• Background experience with mixed-signal circuit techniques in silicon CMOS
• Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Keysight ADS and/or Cadence AWR environments
• Fluency with 2.5D/3D electromagnetic simulation, e.g. EMX, Momentum, Clarity
• Knowledge of design automation software is beneficial
• 5+ years of industry experience in the field of Si/SiGe radio-frequency integrated circuits (RFIC) and/or GaN/GaAs/InP microwave monolithic integrated circuits (MMIC) with demonstrated design and product success
• MS or PhD in electrical engineering or related field
