The Category Analyst interprets data, provides recommendations based on analysis, and executes plans supporting the strategy and goals of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to Giant’s high-performance team and partnerships both internally and externally
- Work cross functionally with internal departments: Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, Marketing, Pricing Strategy, Supply Chain, Finance and Operations
- Maintain relationships with Giant’s Vendor Community to develop sales plans
- Curate distinctive, customer centric assortment
- Provide data driven recommendations to identify key points and opportunities that lead to meaningful and relevant conclusions
- Create meaningful and engaging omnichannel promotions to author Giant’s featured assortment
- Forecast promotional activities and plans in alignment with departmental budget
- Capture and communicate insights to the appropriate stakeholders
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of analytical experience in a retail and/or Consumer Packaged Goods role
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
- Proficient in MSL Office Suite (Excel, PPT, Word)
- Balances workload and priorities
- Proven success with analytical interpretation of complex data sets
- Effective and concise communication and presentation skills
- Precise attention to detail
- Negotiation ability is encouraged
- Exposure to with syndicated/competitive data (e.g. Nielsen, Circana/IRI) preferred
