The HR Business Partner will report to the Sr. HR Business Partner and will be primarily responsible for providing a thorough and strategic approach to HR support for business leaders within the organization. This role requires the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities while acting as a primary point of contact for supporting business lines across a variety of HR functions. The HR Business Partner will focus on building strong relationships, influencing without direct authority, and offering consultative HR support tailored to specific business initiatives. By deeply understanding department and stakeholder needs, the HR Business Partner will align HR strategies with the overall business strategy, ensuring compliance with internal policies and federal and state regulations while achieving best practices.
Responsibilities
- Build strong consultative business relationships with hiring managers, business leaders and assists in developing and implementing communication and executing plans for updated policies and new employment legislation
- Develop an understanding of the money transfer and digital businesses, strategic plans and priorities and collaborate with HR leadership, to translate this into HR work-streams to develop an aligned HR strategy and business plan
- Will collaborate with Sr. HR Business Partner in reviewing process workflows and identifying opportunities for efficiencies, including but not limited to: reviewing forms, documentation templates and developing / updating current content to meet business needs. Will require an annual review of all associated policies, procedures and disciplinary process to ensure it is consistently being followed
- Provides full HR support to the retail client group, including but not limited to: employee relations, workplace investigations, coaching, performance management, compensation inquiries and leaves of absence
- Proactively conducts thorough research of state laws for new work sites and reports legal requirements and associated risks to ensure compliance, prior to new work site(s) opening.
- Collaborates with HR leadership team to ensure compliance of FLSA standards
- Collaborates with HR leadership team in effectively communicating new legislation and action items company-wide, to support new policies and procedures.
- Knowledge-shares and promotes a continuous learning and development approach to coaching and advising leadership and staff members
- Conducts presentations and provides compliance training as necessary to hiring managers.
- Collaborates with HR leadership team for reporting that drives metrics and KPIs associated with meeting business strategies
- Completes other projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and work experience that will enable the candidate to be successful in the role
- Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience with preferred expertise in employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations and HR compliance
- Must have proficient knowledge of Federal and California employment regulations, knowledge of multiple state regulations a plus, (ADA, EEOC, DFEH etc.)
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
- Must be bilingual in Spanish (oral & written ability)
- Business Acumen – uses employment law and industry data to proactively identify risks and ensure compliance
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects and deliver on key deadlines

- Ability to work collaboratively and independently on assigned duties
- Must apply thorough attention to detail in all aspects of job function
Working Conditions
- Primarily sedentary work in a general office environment. Travel 40% to retail locations within assigned region. May require additional travelling as business needs arise.
