About You:

- Desired majors include Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Health and Safety.
Key Responsibilities and Internship Benefits:
Over the course of our 10 week internship experience you will have the opportunity to:
- The purpose of the internship is to provide the student with supervised practice at the work site and in the continuing daily work of the safety professional.
- Interns will assist the Safety Director, Safety Coordinators, and A-C management in adhering to company safety and loss control policies.
- Works on construction projects or in the office to assist in the day-to-day activities associated with safety and loss control.
- The Safety Intern shall be supervised by the Safety Director
- Participate in training at safety meetings, tool box meetings and orientations.
- Work directly with a mentor in your field of study while finding solutions to real world problems.
- Participate in Book Club assignments to develop interpersonal communication skills and leadership.
- Interact directly with our company leaders to discuss strategy and the future of A-C Electric Company.
- Build a lasting professional network through social events and engaging activities.
- Attend “Meet & Greets” aimed to enhance vital networking skills with industry leaders.
- Enjoy fun summer activities, including team-building outings and social gatherings.
- Gain the skills and knowledge to become a future leader in the construction industry.
- Develop a LEAN strategy and deliver a formal presentation on your summer project work.
Additional Job Duties:
- Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and owner/contractual requirements
- Assist in conducting jobsite inspections
- Assist in maintaining safety records, including, Job Hazard Analysis, training records, tool box meetings, maintenance of the OSHA 300 log, maintenance of the MSDS and chemical inventory sheets, incident investigations and metrics
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety related programs to meet or exceed company safety standards.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
- Ability to work full-time for 10 week during Summer 2025 (Beginning May 27 to August 1)
- Enrolled student attending a college or university with an expected graduation on or before August 2027
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Strong academic performance (preferred GPA of 3.0 or above),
- Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations.
- Strong technical experiences as demonstrated through technical projects, research, or engineering internships.
- Exceptional communication skills, interest, and enthusiasm related to electrical engineering and/or construction.
Location:
- Must live in Bakersfield or Kern County.
Pay Range: $16.50 per hour to $20.00 per hour. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
