Controls Engineer – Multi Site - Vacaville, CA
Overview:
Join our team to oversee automation activities across all manufacturing lines, ensuring alignment with company goals. Your role will involve designing, specifying, and commissioning automation systems, improving existing equipment, and upgrading obsolete control systems.
Compensation: $160,000 - $175,000 base salary + True Profit Share Bonus ($22 per thousand made per quarter). Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, STD, LTD, PTO, 401k Match.

Responsibilities:
Install and manage new equipment throughout the plant.
Oversee 2-3 Automation Engineers and provide leadership.
Travel between 3 manufacturing sites (AR, PA, CA), travel is 3 or 4 days a month.
Oversee and manage automation projects, ensuring timely, within-budget, and specification-compliant delivery.
Manage external automation vendors.
Design, specify, program, test, and assist with the startup of control systems.
Implement code changes following change control procedures.
Provide technical support to production, maintenance, and other engineering teams.
Support operations with technical queries and partner with various disciplines to deliver projects.
Develop control systems for machine design, including servo motion and high-speed device integration.
Maintain and implement new projects, ensuring system reliability for all plant automation systems.
Support automation data collection, reporting systems, network systems, and system security.
Stay updated on new technologies to prevent equipment obsolescence.
Develop new production efficiencies and design/install systems to achieve these efficiencies.
Serve as a resource to help maintenance and production improve processes and reduce variation.
Complete required training, comply with safety and company policies, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Seeking:
- Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a 2-year degree in a related electrical field and lengthy experience
- Experienced with Siemens Automation PLCs, motor drives, and HMI products or similar, we will consider Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.
- Extensive background experience (5-20 years +) in PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Extensive background experience (5-20 years +) in HMI/SCADA systems programming and troubleshooting
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience working in an industrial environment supporting PLC-controlled equipment
- Familiarity with Ethernet/IP controls of devices
- Knowledge of vision systems and robotic systems programming is a plus, in addition to other controls experience
- Experience in Integration and Automation Controls is a plus
- Vision systems support and programming.
- Robot programming and support for existing and new installed robots
- Motion programming for servos
- Experience with Ignition is a plus
