Our client, a reputable restaurant group, is seeking a talented Sushi Chef to join their team in New York City! Reporting into the Executive Chef, the Sushi Chef will be responsible for all preparation and development of sushi.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and making sushi, sashimi, and rolls according to all guidelines.
- Adhering to food safety regulations and maintaining kitchen
- Managing ingredients and supplies to maintain fresh products and cost control
- Communicating with all kitchen and wait staff
- Maintaining a clean work environment
- Inspecting the quality of seafood and other ingredients to ensure food quality and presentation standards are met
- Help develop recipes and ensure quality of meals
Qualifications:
- 3-4+ years of previous work experience as a Sushi Chef
- Strong knife skills for cutting and prepping fish.
- Good personality who fits in with their company culture.
- Good knowledge of various sushi types and sushi-rolling techniques.
- Ability to work both fast and accurately.
- Flexibility to take on various shifts.
- Certification from a culinary school is required.
