SOH Wind Engineering is a growing engineering consultancy that was founded in 2011 and located in Williston, Vermont. With state-of-the-art wind tunnels, we specialize in boundary layer testing of structures and anemometer calibrations. Together with Svend Ole Hansen ApS, we have over 35 years’ experience in wind engineering.
Primary Business Areas:
· Wind actions on various structures (buildings, bridges, wind turbines, etc.)
· Wind and wave actions on offshore structures
· Aerodynamic and structural vibration analysis and mitigation
· Scientifically and technically demanding project requiring a strong theoretical background
· Extreme wind estimation
· Calibration of anemometers and wind vanes
Role Description
SOH Wind Engineering seeks a seasoned wind engineer specializing in structural wind actions and wind tunnel testing. This role focuses on leading structural engineering projects, leveraging extensive client interaction and project leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities
· Engage directly with clients to understand and address project requirements
· Plan and coordinate all project phases effectively
· Design wind tunnel experiments and analyze results
· Review structural drawings and calculations
· Perform Finite Element (FE) analysis
· Prepare comprehensive project reports
Required Qualifications
· Minimum of 15 years professional experience in wind engineering
· Knowledge of the design of structures, application of wind, snow, and seismic sections of building codes
· Strong English communication skills for client interactions
· Demonstrated ability to lead projects effectively
· Solid theoretical foundation complemented by hands-on practical skills
· Valid driver’s license with flexibility for international travel
· Must be trustworthy and be able to function well in teams and independently
· Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
· Proficiency in MATLAB and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
· 20 years professional experience in wind engineering
· Ph.D. in a wind engineering or structural engineering related field
· PE in a related field
· Expertise in advanced analytical tools and software
