Candidate profile and qualifications
- Experience: 6+ years in benefits management and administration
- Technical Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS (ideally WorkDay), and ATS
- Soft Skills: Empathetic, Patient, Caring
- Education: Bachelors Degree required, relevant experience can compensate
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Purpose:
To design, develop, and manage employee benefits programs that attract and retain talent while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Manage employee benefits programs, including health, vision, and dental insurance plans, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, disability plans, retirement plans, and other supplemental options.
- Analyze benefits data and trends, survey employee needs, and make recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, including ERISA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
- Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits and leave, providing clear and timely information.
- Conduct benefits education and training sessions and plan benefits-related events.
- Manage relationships with the benefits broker and external administrators, addressing service issues as needed.
- Ensure payroll and benefits systems are properly integrated and documented.
- Develop creative communications to engage employees in their health and welfare options.
- Supervise and delegate work to benefits team members, providing backup support when necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 6+ years of experience in benefits management and administration
- Strong customer service skills and experience working with employees at all levels
- Familiarity with HRIS, FMLA, benefits software, and interstate benefits administration (including Canada)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI principles
