Job Description:
The Lab Technician will play an essential role in supporting our projects by performing a variety of laboratory tasks. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or advanced degree in biological sciences, at least 7 years of lab experience and experience with bacterial culturing and/or Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). This position requires a self-starter with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work independently in the lab five days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations:
- Conduct routine and specialized laboratory procedures utilizing problem solving skills when necessary.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.
- Follow established protocols and procedures accurately and efficiently. Ability to think critically and suggest changes to established protocols if necessary.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Record data, maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory records.
Sample Management:
- Prepare, store, and dispose of laboratory samples in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain an organized inventory of laboratory supplies, placing orders as needed.
- Ensure all samples are properly labeled and stored for easy retrieval and analysis.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional requirements.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in biological sciences or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of work experience in a laboratory setting. Experience in an R&D and/or start up setting is a plus.
Technical Skills: Experience with bacterial culturing and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
Self-Starter: Ability to work independently and take initiative in the lab.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills.
