The Tax Manager will oversee tax preparation and planning activities, provide mentorship and training to junior staff members, and maintain client relationships.
Primary Duties:
- Conduct final review of basic tax returns prepared by junior staff members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Review data for intermediate and advanced tax returns, providing guidance and support to junior staff members as needed.
- Prepare advanced tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities, leveraging expertise to optimize tax outcomes for clients.
- Review tax plans prepared by younger staff members, providing feedback and recommendations to enhance the quality and effectiveness of tax planning strategies.
- Develop and implement advanced tax planning strategies for clients, identifying opportunities for tax optimization and risk mitigation.
- Maintain client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact and presenting tax-related information to clients as needed.
- Manage and train younger staff members, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to facilitate their professional development and growth.
- Maintain client relationships with wealth management offices assigned to managers, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated tax solutions.
- Communicate directly with the director, providing updates on client engagements, staff performance, and other relevant matters.
- Stay current on tax law updates and changes, proactively researching and analyzing developments to ensure compliance and inform client recommendations.
- Conduct initial interviews with potential new hires, assessing qualifications, skills, and fit for the organization.
- Serve as a liaison with regional schools for internship programs, establishing partnerships and recruiting top talent to join our team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (CPA or EA) required.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in tax preparation, tax planning, or tax consulting roles.
