Job Title: Security and Fire Alarm Technician
Location: Raleigh, NC
Duration: Permanent, Direct Hire
Salary: $40,000 to 70,000 (Based on Skills/Experience/Certifications)
Responsibilities:
• Perform installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of security systems including IP cameras, card access, intrusion systems, and fire detection & monitoring products.
• Complete system startup, testing, and commissioning documentation for new systems.
• Program systems using laptops, adhering to standard configurations.
• Add and modify devices on existing systems, ensuring proper commissioning after any changes.
• Conduct routine inspections, testing, servicing, and preventative maintenance of both security and fire alarm systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system problems through physical equipment installation or software adjustments.
• Respond to emergency service call-outs on a rotational basis.
• Ensure installation processes adhere to safety standards and quality guidelines.
• Interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications for system setup and troubleshooting.
• Communicate any job-related issues, material needs, or schedule updates with the Project Management team or customers.
• Set up and configure IP-based networking and cellular equipment for both security and fire alarm systems.
• Maintain knowledge of computer networking, IP addressing, and remote monitoring setup.
• Stay up-to-date with NFPA, state, and local fire codes and work towards NICET certification.
• Ensure compliance with state alarm board certifications for security systems, completing necessary background investigations and paperwork.
• Archive inspection documentation and reports using digital platforms such as Excel and Word.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial/industrial security or fire alarm systems.
• Experience or certification in Bosch, Honeywell, Lenel, Pelco, Avigilon, or similar systems for security; NICET certification or working towards it for fire alarm systems.
• Strong understanding of low voltage electrical systems, including troubleshooting and instrumentation skills.
• Familiarity with IT networking, Windows Server, and system programming.
• Proficient in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams for system installation and troubleshooting.
• Must be able to lift and move tools and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work on lifts and ladders.
