Electrical Designer and Technician
Position Summary
Using AutoCAD Electrical, prepare electrical schematics from I/O list and part list ensuring completeness and accuracy. In addition, perform lay out, assembly and wiring of electrical panels. Assist in debugging and installation of machine and/or process control systems.
Primary Responsibilities and Job Duties
- Draw electrical schematics using proper design practices
- Prepare parts lists, bills of material and order parts
- Lay out and wire electrical panels according to schematics and customer specifications
- Create wire lists, wire bundles and label using good workmanship practices
- Perform basic testing of electrical systems.
- Special assignments as requested
- Working knowledge of NFPA, NEC and UL codes. Will provide UL 508A training.
- With the addition of using Autodesk inventor for back panel and enclosure layouts.

Hiring Qualifications
- A 2 year degree in electronics, electricity or related area, or at least 4 years of relevant experience. (We were not necessarily looking for an engineer to fill this position but technician level for this position.)
- A minimum of one year of experience with PC-based software such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to draw electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical software.
- Ability to us AutoCad Inventor for back panel and enclosure layouts.
- Experience in machine wiring and panel wiring/layout.
- Experience using powered hand tools and electrical instruments including soldering iron, voltmeters, drills, saws, etc.
- Ability to travel to customer facilities for design, installation and service-related activities.
Physical Demands
- Extended hours sitting and viewing a computer screen.
- Frequent repetitive hand/wrist movements.
- Frequent walking, bending, squatting, reaching and lifting for extended periods of time.
- Occasional lifting and moving of parts up to 50 pounds waist high.
