Director of Conference and Meeting Planning oversees the Conference and Meeting Planning
Department, evaluates the needs of each meeting client, oversees the contracting process and leads a team of Event Planners in daily duties to ensure the continued success of Client events.
• Work with Association leadership to identify conference and meeting needs, timelines and budgets
• Assign appropriate staff to work Association Managers to design and implement successful events,
with an ongoing focus on continuous improvement, while staying within the defined parameters
• Provide daily guidance to Conference and Meeting Planning staff to help achieve client objectives
• Oversight of the sourcing process from RFP to contract signature. Review and negotiate all contracts,
ranging from venue to third party providers including AV, decorator, transportation and
entertainment
• Provide planning and onsite support to high level and international clients
• Participate in site visits with clients to help define the best location for their events
Qualifications include:
• Bachelor's Degree required
• 10+ years of experience in all areas of Conference and Meeting Planning
• Strong leadership skills; must be able to mentor and lead staff
• Highly motivated, professional, dependable, results driven
• Ability to problem-solve, work under pressure, and manage time appropriately
• Strong communication, critical-thinking; including the ability to provide written and verbal
direction effectively
• Extensive experience in all aspects of Meeting Planning, from conception to execution.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• CMP required, CMM preferred
• Ability to travel 25%-35% of time
