Job Title: Java Developer - Regulatory Compliance

Job Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our dynamic technology team working on a critical regulatory project within the investment banking sector. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills in Java, a deep understanding of object-oriented design, and experience with the frameworks and technologies essential for modern, compliant financial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Java applications critical to the regulatory functions of investment banking.
- Ensure the delivery of highly reliable, scalable, and performant code that complies with stringent regulatory standards.
- Utilize Java frameworks such as DropWizard, Spring, and Hibernate to build robust backend services.
- Work with web development frameworks (Angular or React) to create intuitive and compliant user interfaces.
- Integrate with distributed storage systems (DB2, Oracle, Cassandra, MongoDB) ensuring data consistency and scalability.
- Employ CI/CD pipelines using Git to streamline development and deployment processes.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement features that adhere to regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and improve the performance of existing software, ensuring all systems are up to regulatory standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and junior developers.
- Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and best practices in the investment banking regulatory space.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven track record of Java development, with a solid grasp of object-oriented design principles.
- Demonstrable experience with Java frameworks such as DropWizard, Spring, and Hibernate.
- Experience with front-end development frameworks like AngularJS or ReactJS is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of distributed storage systems including DB2, Oracle, Cassandra, and MongoDB.
- Experience with Git and familiarity with CI/CD practices.
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments is essential.
- Familiarity with the investment banking domain, particularly with regulatory projects, is a plus.
It would be great if you also had:
- Detail-oriented, ability to turn deliverables around quickly with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret business requirements and produce functional and technical design documents.
- Good time management skills – Ability to prioritize and multi-task, handling multiple efforts at once.
- Strong desire to understand and learn domain.
- Experience in a financial services/banking industry
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; to be flexible and learn quickly.
- Ability to multi-task with attention to detail/ prioritize tasks.
