Job Description:
The Mechanical Piping, Packaging Design Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the successful design and execution of piping and packaging systems for the project. The role involves coordination with offshore design teams, vendors, clients, and contractors to ensure all design deliverables meet customer expectations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities :-
- Define scope of work based on customer requirements.
- Coordinate with offshore design team, client, vendor, contractors, and ensure design deliverables meet customer expectations.
- Review piping design deliverables including layout, ISO, BOM, design basis, engineering information, specification sheet, and technical recommendations for compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Provide technical guidance to the construction team where needed.
- Engage in project planning & management, resource management, ensuring optimal team utilization.
- Ensure proper scope understanding with customers and connect with all stakeholders for further project execution.
- Oversee all engineering activities related to new product development, maintenance, and derivatives of existing machines.
- Perform field verification of design deliverables before submission to the customer.
- Support the offshore design team in creating PMS (Project Management Systems).
- Offer technical support for mechanical construction activities from start to finish.
- Ensure the timely delivery of projects with zero defects by collaborating with the design team.
- Document construction-related issues and prepare action plans to resolve them.
- Align vendor tasks to ensure a defect-free installation of machinery.
- Apply broad engineering principles and make independent decisions to resolve discipline-specific issues on the project.
- Represent the discipline on the project, resolving technical questions and coordinating with the client when required.
- Prepare and oversee the work plan in accordance with the project's scope, schedule, and budget.
- Review and approve key engineering drawings, calculations, and bid summaries.
- Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators) and coordinate with client representatives for approval of drawings/documents during different phases of the project.
Top 3 Must-Have Skill Sets :-
- Design and project knowledge on process piping (Key standards: ASME B31.3 and BPE)
- Experience in FMCG / CPG / Pharmaceutical industries
- Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD
Day-to-Day Responsibilities :-
- Serve as the site SPOC (Single Point of Contact) and schedule project calls with clients.
- Coordinate with the offshore team on design deliverables.
- Facilitate communication between client, vendor, and construction teams for inputs to be shared with offshore teams.
- Prepare markups for designs.
- Review design documents sent from the offshore team.
- Deliver the design package to the customer.
- Provide technical support to the construction team by addressing technical queries and clarifications.
