Job Title: Medical Device Controls and Automation Engineer
Job Location - North Haven, Connecticut(Fully Onsite)
Type: W2 contract
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Controls and Automation Engineer with significant expertise in electrical controls, automation design, and programming. This role will be instrumental in supporting the manufacturing engineering team through project coordination, system programming, and troubleshooting of automation equipment and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, configuration, and troubleshooting of PLC and HMI systems, focusing on Allen-Bradley platforms.
Provide support for controls and manufacturing engineering projects, including program development and validation of control systems.
Implement and oversee machine motion control systems, servo systems, and pneumatic systems.
Troubleshoot control system issues and ensure optimal system performance.
Perform process validation and safety implementations to meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Support IQ/OQ documentation, validation, and execution.
Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers (CM) and vendors to ensure smooth validation builds and executions.
Oversee the development and remediation of engineering and validation documentation.
Coordinate testing and ensure proper implementation of systems and processes.
Evaluate, select, and order equipment that is cost-effective and suited to the company’s manufacturing processes.
Establish preventative maintenance schedules and ensure proper maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
Required Qualifications:
BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field.
3-5 years of experience in electrical controls and automation design.
Proficiency in programming PLCs (Allen-Bradley) and HMI systems.
Experience with vision systems (Cognex), LabVIEW, and data acquisition systems.
Extensive knowledge of machine motion controls, servo systems, and pneumatic applications.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot control system issues.
Experience in process validation, IQ/OQ support, and safety implementation.
Ability to coordinate with vendors and manage project timelines.
Willingness to travel as needed (less than 10%).
