Our client is seeking a Designer/Drafter to create drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for a variety of machinery and components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce correct and complete computer-generated drawings and 3D models for parts, assemblies and projects using Autodesk Inventor
- Work directly with Engineer, Vendors, Purchasing and Shop Foreman to coordinate the production and release of drawings and projects for fabrication and construction
- Perform necessary calculations for preparation of clear, complete and accurate drawings using standards for dimensions and tolerances
- Produce Bills of Material and work instructions
- Assist with the establishment of and adherence to drafting standards
- Assist in design reviews, safety reviews and cost manufacturing reviews
- Work with Engineer and staff to set scheduling priorities and ensure these timelines are met
- Work on several design projects simultaneously and lead small sized projects on occasion
- Migrate existing project data to Autodesk Vault document control system and utilize Vault to manage all future project work
- Effectively interface with all levels of personnel including co-workers/company employees, vendors and customers
- Under direction of Engineering, assist in reviewing project requirements, technical specifications and reference drawings to prepare layouts for parts/sub-assemblies from concept phase through commissioning
- Assist in evaluating equipment and making suggestions regarding design revisions to simplify or improve
- Provide design information to generate equipment manuals
- Maintain information, per the organizations standards, in an organized file system, including revisions
- Work with various precision measuring instruments.
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
Qualifications/Skills:
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault
- Strong in conceptual design
- Must have the ability to transpose hand sketches into computer generated drawings
- Solid understanding of Manufacturing Processes
- Must be able to measure and sketch parts and assemblies as needed
- Knowledge of tolerance and its application to mechanical design
- Complies with all Quality and Safety policies, regulations and instructions
- Problem solving / Reasoning ability
- Project Organizational Skills using logical step-by-step procedures to complete tasks
- Additional Skills Including: Design Planning, Timeline Management, Communications, Team Building and Technical Writing.
Education/Experience:
- Associate's Degree in mechanical drafting or related field, or equivalent technical certificate
- 1-3 years related experience in 3D modeling of parts and assemblies
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor required
- Experience with Autodesk Vault required
Math Ability:
- Basic mathematical computation ability (fractions, percentages, ratios, etc.).
- Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for component or machinery

- Microsoft Office
