The Role:
The Digital team is developing the next version of CAVA’s digital platform with a strong emphasis on customer experience and cutting-edge design. The Director of UX Design will define the next generation of guest-centric experiences and features for CAVA’s digital product roadmap, aligning with key enterprise strategic initiatives. The goal is to grow engagement, conversion, and retention by enabling innovative user experiences.
The team is tasked with setting the standard in restaurant/retail technology innovation and relishes the challenge. We have a creative and open team that uses modern tools and agile practices to run a lean development lifecycle.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead user experience design for the end-to-end customer journey, including CAVA’s websites, mobile applications, digital/physical touchpoints, and loyalty engagement.
- Conduct customer research to develop new features, identify areas for improvement, and devise elegant solutions for testing.
- Drive alignment around a compelling vision for how user experience can solve guest problems and drive business growth.
- Build and manage a team of user experience designers.
- Mentor and provide professional development opportunities for the UX team to foster growth and skill enhancement.
- Facilitate design-thinking workshops, customer journey mapping, user testing, and solution prototyping.
- Collaborate closely with in-house developers in an agile environment to implement and integrate front-end enhancements to digital applications.
- Lead the design execution effort, ensuring adherence to brand standards and digital best practices.
- Provide guidance for a design system that enables faster speed to market with high-quality UI
- Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in all user experience designs to meet diverse user needs.
- Partner with the creative team (visual designers and content experts), engineers, restaurant operations, and passionate CAVA customers to bring new digital experiences to life.
- Collaborate with product management to align UX goals with business objectives and product strategies.
The Qualifications:
- 10+ years of UX/UI web experience for mobile apps and/or ecommerce (web, mobile ecommerce)
- Bachelor’s degree in human-computer interaction, visual design or a related field
- Expertise in Figma.
- Diverse project experience including execution and leadership of teams through all product phases from concepting and prototyping to wireframing, visual design and optimization
- Experience managing design teams
- Attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, and clear communication skills.
- Ability to communicate design solutions to internal stakeholders and senior leadership
- Experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions.
- Experience with a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive web design.
- A solid grasp of user-centered design, testing methodologies, and usability/accessibility
- concerns.
- Collaborative and excited to work with cross-functional teams and external agencies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to maintain stationary position to be able to operate a computer and other office equipment
- Must be able to identify, analyze and assess details
- For certain positions, must be able to occasionally move or transport items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively
- Constantly positions self and move about to support ordinary restaurant or food production support or office operations, as applicable
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
