A well-established international commodities trading firm is seeking an experienced Gas Analyst, to join their team. Responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and forecasting global energy commodities markets and prices, this individual will help drive quantitative and qualitative research about the gas sector exclusively across Europe.
This is a role with significant potential for development. You will be a key member of the team, assisting in the production and delivery of an integrated and comprehensive analysis offering.
Your role:
- Contribute to researching, analyzing, and articulating all factors influencing the anticipated future value of gas in European markets.
- Enhance gas analysis by crafting market demand, supply, and pricing forecasts, and conducting regulatory and policy assessments.
- Produce concise, top-quality, and precise charts, presentations, and reports that empower core readers to make well-informed trading, risk management, and investment decisions.
- Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of various reports and presentations essential to our retainer service.
- Identify and anticipate emerging trends proactively, leveraging a robust understanding of gas trading, modeling, and forecasting to predict market movements whenever possible.
- Stay updated on evolving markets, encompassing price shifts, trade patterns, trading behaviors, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics affecting gas markets.
- Foster internal collaborations to generate innovative ideas for integrating pricing content, fundamental data, and cross-commodity analysis, thereby delivering enhanced value to customers.
Experience/skills required:
- A degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related field, from a top school.
- In-depth knowledge of the fundamentals of the European wholesale gas market, energy policies, regulations, and the principles governing wholesale gas market economics.
- You must have hands-on experience in the European gas market, either within the industry or in an advisory role.
- Proficiency in energy demand modeling and/or the principles of marginal cost supply and demand modeling.
- Capability to handle large, intricate datasets and translate model outcomes into concise, insightful analyses.
- Adept at handling significant levels of individual responsibility and being held accountable.
- Proven track record of meeting challenging objectives.
- Exhibits personal integrity and a commitment to ongoing learning and growth.
- Knowledge of Python, SQL or similar programming and data handling languages.
- Strong Excel skills are required.
