Note: This position in ONSITE in Chattanooga, TN.
ABOUT THE POSITION
This position requires a detailed knowledge of welding codes specifications and procedures. Including the ability to write specification and welding procedure. Detailed knowledge of the following GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW, GTAW, hard automation and robotics. Experience with equipment financial justification.
Key Deliverables
- Be a leader in safe work practices
- Develop WPS’s and PQR’s
- Review current processes and determination of process improvements
- Can work in the manufacturing environment to evaluate processes and personnel
- Evaluation of emerging technologies
- Create reports and make presentations to company leadership
- Respond to shop question and support manufacturing efforts for cost saving and improvements
Key Activities & Responsibilities
- Ability to travel (10%)
- Learn and stay current on welding codes (AWS and ASME)
- Participate in welder training
- May provide task-oriented direction to technicians
- Provide technical support if needed, for welder performance testing
- Assisting with departmental business planning
- Acting as a technical resource to others, including mentoring and direction
- Assist in design reviews when necessary
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
- Welding Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering Technology with a minimum of 7 years of experience, or
- Associates degree in Welding Technology with a minimum of 15 years of experience
- Experience with code work (AWS, ASME, API 1104)
- Typically, works with minimal direct supervision, conferring with superiors as needed. Has appreciable latitude for independent action or decision.
