Position Brief:
The Chatham Group: Advanced Materials and Technologies Recruiting Team is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Mechanical Engineering role with a client in the heavy industrial and chemical manufacturing industry. We are seeking an experienced licensed Professional Engineer with an educational background in Mechanical Engineering for an all-hands-on-deck role involving extensive piping and instrumentation design, fluid and mass process calculation, equipment specification and sizing, and more. This is a people-facing role that requires both meeting and working with clients and mentoring junior engineers on a per project basis.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as site subject matter expert in mechanical engineering design with a heavy focus on piping design and piping engineering
- Lead client interactions by creating walkthrough mechanical systems (3D models) and point clouds in AutoDesk and AutoCAD software
- Perform detailed mechanical engineering tasks such as fluid dynamics calculations, piping sizing calculations, equipment sizing, etc
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards for safety as well as client standards for mechanical specifications
- Assist in project management duties such as general strategic planning, budgeting, and creating presentations of various deliverables
- Produce and review P&IDs and PFDs
- Lead equipment sizing and specification for peripherals such as conveyors, hoppers, mixers, chutes, etc
Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in multiple states: NC, SC, VA, FL, TX, TN. License in NC is mandatory with the ability to get licensed in other states taken into account
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with point cloud and laser scanning technologies
- Advanced knowledge in piping systems design including high-pressure systems
- Extensive software experience: AutoCAD, AutoCAD P&ID, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Recap, ClearEdge3D EdgeWise, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Bentley AutoPIPE, Faro Focus Laser Scanner, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Bluebeam
