The Lead Application Support Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the firm’s financial risk management system, which consists of around 125 applications running on a 24/7 system. This is a hands-on production support role that spans multiple geographic locations, involving distributed applications and SQL-driven data reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 24/7 application support for a suite of financial risk management applications, ensuring high availability and performance across Unix/Linux-based systems, SQL databases, and ETL processes.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for SQL databases (Oracle, Snowflake, DB2), ensuring data integrity and timely reporting for risk management applications.
- Oversee on-prem applications running on load servers and back servers, with data feeding into SQL databases for reporting purposes.
- Handle ETL processes to ensure accurate data extraction, transformation, and loading from various systems into relevant databases, maintaining consistency and quality of data.
- Support applications across mainframe environments (COBOL, DB2) and AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda, etc.), ensuring seamless data flow between cloud-based and on-prem systems.
- Utilize monitoring tools (Splunk, DynaTrace) to proactively manage system performance, leading the incident management process for rapid resolution of production issues.
- Work as part of a large global team, spread across six locations, and participate in weekend rotations (one weekend per month) to maintain continuous production support.
- Drive process improvements across application support, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance of production systems.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in application support with a focus on Unix/Linux systems, SQL databases, and ETL processes. AWS and mainframe experience (COBOL, DB2) are a strong plus.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux, SQL (Oracle, Snowflake, DB2), ETL processes, and distributed application support. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and mainframe environments (COBOL, DB2) is desirable.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a creative approach to resolving technical issues in high-stakes environments.
- Experience with monitoring and data tools such as Splunk, DynaTrace, and familiarity with middleware (Tomcat, WebSphere) and messaging queues (IBM MQ, Oracle AQ, ActiveMQ).
- Ability to collaborate with a global team, manage time zones and shift rotations, and work effectively in a 24/7 production support model.
Shift & Schedule Details: This role requires weekend work on a rotation basis (approximately one weekend per month). Days off will be provided during the week when weekend shifts are worked.
