Founding Software Engineer/Head of Engineering
Location: NYC (Hybrid) or SF (willing to Travel)
Salary: Up to 180K + Stock Options
Our client is a pioneering company in the virtual behavioral therapy space, dedicated to supporting the 27 million youth in need of mental health care. Their platform connects families with specialized pediatric and youth therapists, addressing a variety of conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other personal challenges.
As a rapidly growing, venture-backed startup, their mission is to make effective and accessible care available to every child, teen, and young adult. The company’s network of expert providers helps young individuals develop healthy coping strategies and achieve significant milestones, fostering resilience and skills for a brighter future.
Having launched in fall 2023, they are experiencing strong product-market fit and are scaling quickly.
Your Role:
Our client is seeking a dynamic engineering leader to develop and expand their technology infrastructure, and to create top-tier products that enhance the experience of clinicians, patients, and internal operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Act as both a strategic leader and hands-on engineer, developing and managing the company's technology stack within a fast-paced startup environment.
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of internal tools to streamline data-driven clinical operations.
- Build and refine clinician-facing and patient-facing tools to enhance clinical care quality, efficiency, and user experience.
- Develop and optimize the data stack to track, analyze, and report key metrics for clinical and operational decision-making.
- Manage API-based integrations to ensure smooth data interoperability and platform communication.
- Articulate the technology roadmap, vision, and functionality to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Establish and uphold standards for technology performance, including compliance with regulations (e.g., HIPAA), cloud architecture, data warehousing, and communication technologies.
- Guide the prioritization and organization of product development across various business areas.
Who You Are:
- 4+ years of experience in full-stack development for user-centric, data-driven applications from inception to scale.
- 2+ years of leadership experience or collaboration within a high-growth engineering team.
- Proven expertise in defining technical requirements and system architecture, with clear understanding of feasibility, time, cost, and impact.
- Experience managing and configuring IT infrastructure in a cloud-based environment (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Proficiency in API development and integrations.
- Experience in both frontend and backend development preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA-compliant software products is a plus, but not required.
- Skilled in performing code reviews and assessing system architecture and database structures.
- Experience in a startup environment is preferred, but not mandatory.
