Job Overview:
As the Asset and Liability Management (ALM) Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of the institution’s balance sheet to optimize liquidity, profitability, and risk. Your role will focus on interest rate risk management, liquidity risk, and capital management, ensuring the organization meets its financial objectives while adhering to regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial markets, interest rate risks, and liquidity management techniques, coupled with experience in banking or financial services.
Key Responsibilities:
- ALM Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement Asset and Liability Management strategies to balance risk and return in line with the company’s risk appetite and financial goals.
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the impact of market fluctuations on the balance sheet and recommend mitigating actions.
- Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk Management:
- Monitor and manage the bank’s interest rate risk exposure and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Develop liquidity management strategies to ensure the bank maintains adequate liquidity to meet short- and long-term obligations.
- Manage the investment portfolio in alignment with risk and return goals.
- Balance Sheet Management:
- Analyze and optimize the bank’s balance sheet, including asset-liability matching, funding costs, and capital allocation.
- Collaborate with other teams such as Treasury, Finance, and Risk Management to align balance sheet strategies with the bank’s financial goals.
- Modeling and Analytics:
- Use advanced financial models to forecast cash flows, assess interest rate and liquidity gaps, and manage maturity mismatches.
- Perform sensitivity analysis and back-testing to validate the accuracy of models.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Asset and Liability Management, Treasury, or Risk Management within the banking or financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and capital management principles.
- Proven experience with ALM systems, financial modeling, and data analytics.
- Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of financial markets and balance sheet management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in financial modeling and sensitivity analysis.
- Proficiency in ALM software, such as QRM, BancWare, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex data to senior management.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, such as Basel III, and liquidity coverage ratios (LCR).
