Job Description:
LHH Recruitment is seeking an experienced paralegal with a background in labor and employment to join our client’s team in their Vancouver office. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in labor and employment law and possess strong knowledge of Washington state and federal labor and employment regulations. Familiarity with dispute resolution methods, such as mediation and arbitration is a plus!
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and interpret employment laws at various levels
- Assist in case preparation for hearings, mediations, and trials by organizing case materials, maintaining records, and managing exhibits
- Provide support to attorneys on labor and employment cases, including workplace conflicts, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage-related issues
- Draft, review, and submit legal documents such as pleadings, discovery materials, subpoenas, and motions
- Manage digital filing systems and use e-discovery tools to support litigation efforts
- Conduct case investigations, gather facts, interview witnesses, and review employer records
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials to facilitate case progress
- Create summaries of depositions, discovery responses, and witness testimonies
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience as a paralegal, specializing in labor and employment law
- Background in handling complex employment litigation preferred
- Certification as a paralegal or a similar combination of education and experience is required
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience drafting legal documents and organizing case files
- Comprehensive knowledge of Washington state and federal employment laws, along with court processes
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage time effectively
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office and legal management software
- Proficient in legal research platforms, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, and PACER
- Knowledge of mediation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution strategies
