CLA has an immediate need for an experienced Real Estate Paralegal for a well-established title company in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate must have experience with residential real estate closings and title services experience. Candidates without this experience will not be considered.
Sample Responsibilities:
- Interpret title work and review title searches
- Review title commitments to make sure all information is in file
- Communicate with borrowers, loan officers, sellers, and real estate agents
- Participates in the review, preparation, and coordination of closing documents
- Review the purchase and sale agreements and any addendums to make sure everything matches the closing disclosures
- Assist in resolving any title issues that arise
- Conducts research related to real estate transactions, including with respect to ownership, land use, access, legal descriptions, liens, title exceptions and related matters
- Follows up to clarify issues, inconsistencies and missing information relating to customers and loans
- Prepares various documents including deeds, deeds of trust, subordination agreements, entity authorizations, and other closing documents under the supervision of counsel
- Reviews various real estate transactional documents including title commitments, title exception documents, appraisals, entity formation documents and other documents for accuracy, and adherence to and proper handling with respect to regulations and Association policies and procedures
- Review, comprehend, and satisfy all requirements of the title underwriter
- Carefully review prior title documents (deeds, surveys, easements, restrictions, etc...) to prepare legally sufficient legal description and deed of conveyance
- Enters information into applicable databases to ensure proper record-keeping is maintained
- Generates documents using applicable software
- Partners with outside attorneys for documents that they may be providing for a transaction
- Reviews payoffs, taxes and insurance for accuracy and interest good to dates
- Coordinates closing date and time with buyers, borrowers, sellers, brokers and lenders and our schedule
- Greet customers with courtesy and professionalism
- Any other administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience with residential real estate closings in a law firm
- Working knowledge of real estate law and transactions
- Working knowledge of title insurance and closing processes
- Thorough understanding of title and survey, title insurance policies, forms and endorsements (including ALTA endorsements for typical purchase and sale, and loan transactions)
- Proficient in SoftPro and MS Office Suite
- Must be detail-oriented and deadline-driven
- Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in reading title work, preparing title commitments, and preparing closing documents
- Associate's degree preferred, but not required
- Paralegal degree or certificate preferred, but not required
