Job Title: Commercial Landscape Maintenance Estimator
Reports to: Director of Project Development
Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Landscape Maintenance Estimator to join our Houston-based team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for landscape maintenance services, ensuring project profitability while meeting client expectations. This role requires strong knowledge of landscaping, horticulture, irrigation, and ongoing maintenance practices, along with a keen ability to assess property needs and provide comprehensive maintenance solutions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial landscape maintenance services, including mowing, trimming, irrigation system upkeep, plant health care, and seasonal clean-ups.
- Conduct site visits to assess property conditions, identify client needs, and gather information critical to developing maintenance proposals.
- Collaborate closely with clients, sales teams, and maintenance crews to ensure the scope of work aligns with client goals and budgets.
- Review blueprints, site plans, and landscape designs to determine maintenance requirements for existing landscapes.
- Obtain pricing for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracted services required for ongoing maintenance.
- Create comprehensive maintenance plans, including service schedules and timelines, based on client requirements.
- Stay current on local regulations, environmental considerations, and industry standards relevant to landscape maintenance.
- Prepare and present maintenance proposals to clients, including pricing, service plans, and recommendations for improvements or additional services.
- Track project costs and make adjustments to estimates as needed to remain within budget guidelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, or related field (preferred, but not required).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial landscape maintenance estimating or a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Familiarity with plant care, irrigation systems, and seasonal maintenance practices specific to the Houston area.
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape designs, blueprints, and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites within the Houston area.
Preferred skills
Knowledge of local plant species, weather patterns, and regional maintenance challenges.
Experience with irrigation system design and repairs.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) or similar industry certifications are a plus.
