The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager’s (RM) main responsibility is business development in line with Valley’s credit quality standards, both in respect to existing relationships as well as new relationships. RMs are the primary owners and key contact persons for each relationship in their portfolio, and they act as a point person for the coordination of all customer interactions with the Bank. Industries our RM would prospect (but not limited to): manufacturing, distribution, wholesalers, logistics, food and beverage, healthcare, pharma, aerospace, electronics, professional services, etc. We target companies $25 million and above in revenue.
Our Expectations For Someone In This Role
- Grow and maintain and service assigned portfolios and appropriately cross sell other bank products.
- Maintain close customer contact to ensure continued satisfaction and to follow or anticipate additional financing needs.
- Monitor and report changes in credit quality.
- Negotiate properly structured and priced credit facilities consistent with the bank's credit policies and lending practices.
- Prepare effective packages for credit approval circulation and to present packages to the required level of credit authority.
- Attend loan closings to ensure loans are properly closed.
- Oversee proper handling of customer transactions such as advances, payments, wire transfers, etc.
- Ensure that the bank is in possession of current financial information and that the information has been properly analyzed and on file.
- Maintain and follow a list of prospective customers.
- Develop and maintain new business sources.
- Solicit new business opportunities.
Skills & Experience:
- 5 - 10 years of commercial banking relationship management experience with companies above $25 million in revenue
- Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships.
- Must have ability to critically review, analyze and structure commercial loans, cross sell bank products, and attract new business.
- Formal credit training preferred.
- Community and/or industry involvement in territory (Greater LA focus)
- Bachelor’s degree with more than 5 - 10 years related experience preferred.
- Nice to have: Experience with Asset Based Lending and Cash Flow lending, Owner occupied real estate loans (within C&I) experience is a plus.
