Senior Bridge Superintendent

TRC’s client is a leading firm in commercial construction and general contracting, seeking a Senior Bridge Superintendent to join their civil department team in Eastern NC.
Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bridge Superintendent to oversee daily field operations for bridge construction projects. This role will ensure that all construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans and specifications. The Senior Superintendent will coordinate closely with project managers, subcontractors, and field staff to ensure successful project completion within established timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Operations Oversight:
- Manage and supervise all on-site bridge construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans and standards.
- Lead and direct construction crews, subcontractors, and trades to optimize productivity and quality.
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment usage, and manpower allocation for seamless project execution.
- Safety Management:
- Implement and enforce site-specific safety plans in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and regular inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Ensure all personnel are properly trained on safety procedures and equipped with necessary safety gear.
- Scheduling and Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain construction schedules, ensuring critical milestones are met.
- Adjust plans as necessary to accommodate changes or unforeseen conditions.
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, and inspectors to ensure work aligns with technical and quality standards.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure construction activities meet design specifications, plans, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Maintain thorough records of all construction activities, including daily logs and inspection reports.
- Resource Management:
- Monitor the use of labor, materials, and equipment for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Approve time sheets, material orders, and equipment rentals, adhering to budget constraints.
- Resolve field issues related to material shortages, equipment breakdowns, or workforce challenges.
- Stakeholder and Client Interaction:
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, inspectors, and stakeholders.
- Facilitate site visits and maintain open communication regarding project status and challenges.
- Represent the company professionally in all interactions with stakeholders.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate schedule delays, cost overruns, and safety concerns.
- Implement contingency plans in coordination with the project manager as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in bridge construction or heavy civil infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale bridge construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and safety standards specific to bridge construction.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction blueprints and specifications.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage large teams and interact with multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with construction software and tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project) is a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety standards and OSHA regulations in construction.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and meet tight deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate active construction sites.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work at heights as required by the project.
