My client is an exciting and rapidly growing gene therapy startup at the forefront of innovation located in the South San Francisco who are currently undergoing an expansion due to recently securing a significant series A funding round. They are committed to revolutionizing the treatment landscape for genetic disorders and are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join their team as the to lead their In Vivo Pharmacology activities at a Director or Senior Director level.
Responsibilities:
- Set nonclinical pharmacology strategy
- Lead/oversee the in vivo characterization of novel gene therapy platform including assessing on-and off- target, target engagement (PD/PK), biodistribution, secondary pharmacology and efficacy in a variety of disease models
- Lead, mentor and manage a growing group of pharmacology animal scientists
- Work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders across multiple areas including but not limited to molecular, cell biology, bioanalytical, CMC and formulation scientists
- Secure cross functional alignment during discussion of opportunities, risks, and mitigations
- Vendor selection and management
- Critically analyze data generated to inform scientific program strategy, program decisions and subsequent stages of drug development
- Oversee group communication of study results to the project teams and to internal and external stake holders.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Cell Biology or a related filed and with extensive research experience
- 10+ years experience of pharmacology experience in industry with a strong preference toward gene therapy, gene editing or nucleic acid based therapies
- Experience in across a range of disease areas
- Experience with a range of in vivo animal models including mice and NHPs
- Experience recruiting and managing nonclinical Pharmacology teams
- Experience managing external vendors including CROs
