The RN Operating Room Coordinator is also responsible for adequate and appropriate staff assignments based on the needs of the surgical case. The coordinator will provide constructive feedback and direction to CTMs and be responsible for administering equitable and objective constructive feedback for the CTM yearly evaluation. The RN Operating Room Coordinator is empowered and expected to address behavioral, and performance issues and consult with the CSL and manager. The coordinator will work closely with the Perioperative Leadership to standardize and systemize perioperative operations.
The RN Operating Room Coordinator collaborates with leaders throughout MUSC Health to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical and non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within the perioperative setting. The RN Operating Room Coordinator supports and is expected to be proactive within their service line team/department to achieve the unit and organization goals.
The RN Operating Room Coordinator is expected to provide direction to the team following AORN best practices and guidelines; Coordinate and collaborate with SPD leadership in a solution team-driven manner to create and maintain a culture of teamwork and safety; Lead/Co-Lead the Working Specialty Groups WSGs , ensure CTMs attended regularly, and opportunities/issues and solutions are memorialized in the committee minutes and communicated to the local Perioperative Operations Group POG ; Participate in S3/RCA events including action planning, education and audits specific to the service; Work collaboratively with other Surgical Services leadership team members to provide staffing solutions to meet the needs of Surgical Services in its entirety.
Goals include achievement of clinical and quality measures, operational efficiency, financial targets, reduction and elimination of supply and care variation via trialing and collection of evaluations of products; Care Team Member CTM retention and recruitment; Employee engagement; Serving as an educational resource.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) required. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) with American Heart Association (AHA), and NIHSS stroke scale with American Heart Association (AHA) if unit required
