Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries.
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The Sr. Plant Engineer will own the engineering and operations effort to provide safe, reliable, quality, cost effective products to the customers. This role is designed for a strong technical operational engineer that will be supporting our Bayou Cogen and Utilities Plants. Technologies you will be supporting are Cogen, Steam Production (Boilers), Water Treatment (Clarifiers & Demineralization Units), Steam Turbines and Motor driven equipment. This position is located in Pasadena, TX.
- The Sr. Plant Engineer will own the engineering and operations effort to provide safe, reliable, quality, cost effective products to the customers. This role is designed for a strong technical operational engineer that will be supporting our Bayou Cogen and Utilities Plants. Technologies you will be supporting are Cogen, Steam Production (Boilers), Water Treatment (Clarifiers & Demineralization Units), Steam Turbines and Motor driven equipment.
- Supports safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the Cogen and Utilities Plants, including IMS requirements, Responsible Care, improvement programs, and development of the skills/competencies of personnel
- Supports Plant Manager in operating the facility in compliance with all governmental regulations and Air Liquide policies
- Works to achieve "Zero Accidents" by taking a leadership role in safety. Meets or exceeds company safety and security standards
- Strictly adheres to Management of Change procedure, performing engineering design and analysis of changes, and involving external resources as needed
- Support internal and external audits
- Participates in all start ups and can actively start the plant up for production
- Participates in investigation of all incidents and drives corrective actions to completion.
- Works on site action items from RCFA, Audits, etc.
- Develops, implements, and improves standard operating procedures in operations and maintenance
- Works effectively with maintenance personnel to execute/improve predictive and preventive maintenance programs
- Drives improvement to reach Availability, Reliability and preventive maintenance targets for the site
- Identifies and drives efficiency improvements in operations
- Tracks and trends key performance indicators; takes corrective action as needed
- Maintains key operating design documents; red-lines as needed when MOCs are approved, works with document control to ensure updates are accurate
- Identifies and implements opportunities to reduce costs
- Knowledgeable of Maximo (CMMS) for work orders, purchasing, and warehouse inventory
- Fosters a positive culture and drives for optimal performance. Works closely with operations and maintenance to resolve plant issues and contributes to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Monitor production tech reading sheets, logbooks, calibration sheets, shift turnover reports, etc. to ensure compliance and develop corrective action plans for any identified issues
- Work regularly with regional and corporate support groups
- Team player that can effectively work within the Air Liquide organization
- Supports operations manager in building positive customer relationships and proactive in resolving customer concerns
- Gathers data and creates monthly production and incidents reports
- Ability to be on call after hours, nights, and weekends as business needs dictate

Are you a MATCH?
- Bachelor degree in Engineering required (Mechanical or Chemical discipline preferred)
- 4+ years of applicable experience in project engineering or operations in industrial gas or petrochemical industry
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse teams and achieve results
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including Process Safety Management, PSM, OSHA regulations, EPA/TCEQ regulations, Food Safety, state and local requirements
- Technical and working understanding of cryogenic distillation used in the Air Separation process preferred
- Able to use MS Office; ability to learn Air Liquide software systems
- Extremely organized and effective at time management.
- Ability to read and red-line key operating documents
- Experience with operating DCS and PLC systems
- Displays mechanical, process, and electrical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot production problems
