Job Summary:
The Manager, Lean Six Sigma will provide support to senior management and the Director, Lean Six Sigma to strategically plan, organize and implement World Class lean principles throughout the organization with strong focus on 5S+Safety and Lean Six Sigma methodology. The role will support the analysis, facilitation and reporting functions and will be responsible for driving change that will improve quality, reduce costs and establish appropriate process metrics and controls for the region (SAI, SAC, Millstone and ADC). The Manager, Lean Six Sigma educates, executes, trains and leads 5S+Safety and lean initiatives throughout all levels of the organization to implement process improvements and increase efficiencies for optimal performance. The LSS Manager embraces and helps implement a vision of continuous improvement.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides support to Senior Leadership for the development of strategic plan for implementation of a World Class Organization (WCO).
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement. Uses data to communicate and support the opportunities that exist.
- Provide direction, suggestions, and influence to Senior Leadership for development of strategic plan for implementation of LSS.
- Lead training in Lean Six Sigma to create “belted” associates at SAI, SAC and Millstone.
- Achievement of identified cost savings / avoidance at SAI through the development of best practices and projects utilizing LSS methodologies.
- Identify key improvement projects and initiatives that will deliver optimal savings in cost, quality and productivity.
- Methodological support on various projects throughout the plant.
- Interface with all supporting functions.
- Trains and coaches support staff in the use of continuous improvement and LSS tools.
- Supports leadership in the training and use of 5S+Safety and Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology.
- Serves as a change agent to challenge the existing processes in place.
- Provides methodological support on various projects throughout the plant.
- Supports team resources and/or facilitates Kaizen events and Lean Six Sigma projects.
- Works in coordination with leadership to support attainment of mission goals, requirements and sustainment of the process, standards and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Budget/Sales etc. (if applicable)
- Responsible for leading projects (Kaizen Events) that generate targeted savings.
- Responsible for managing the department within the assigned budget amounts.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business
- 5-8 years of experience in a fully integrated manufacturing environment managing lean, continuous improvement and/or Kaizen programs and projects
- Green Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma required; Black Belt certification will be required after hire.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and outside professionals.
- Experience with data gathering and data analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise to lead change and initiate organizational changes.
- Demonstrated strategic agility and broad knowledge and perspective in planning future activities.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to drive results.
- Outstanding PC/System knowledge and skills, including the ability to build, maintain and analyze internal databases. Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access and project management software.
- Ability to consistently stand and walk on concrete floor, climb stairs and occasionally lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
