Summary
Responsible for ensuring proper preparation of banquet facilities, serving customers, and assisting in supervision of banquet employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate and oversee the banquet staff during food and beverage service.
• Assist management in the operation of the banquet department.
• Review banquet event order for schedule of daily functions.
• Prepare banquet room for assigned function.
• Prioritize the needs of assigned function to ensure event is executed properly.
• Maintain appropriate levels of food and beverage items.
• Maintain proper service times and pacing.
• Ensure equipment is in proper working order. Report items in need of repair or unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
• Perform specified opening and closing procedures.
• At the end of an event, ensure that all doors and equipment are locked securely, everything is turned off and properly stowed, and keys are returned.
• Schedule staff for banquet functions.
• Prepare and present bill to customer, professionally address any customer questions or concerns.
• Assist in controlling labor costs through proper scheduling and staff management.

• Maintain a safe working environment and immediately report all unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a good working relationship with all departments.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software and spreadsheet software.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Current food handler card and liquor service permit.
Physical Demands
