Sr. Innovation and Technology Specialist

The Sr. Innovation and Technology Specialist acts as primary partner with IT for all aspects of technology to include but not limited to new stores, systems conversions, test, pilots, and roll-outs. They will support the research, investigation, testing, and potential application of innovation and technology with the purpose of enhancing customer experience and profit; through improving operational processes, identifying efficiencies, optimizing labor costs, and implementing new and innovative ways to operate stores.
The scope is for HomeGoods and Homesense stores, but also includes identification and sharing of opportunities with MarMaxx, Sierra, TJX-Europe, and TJX-Canada store operations. The role will work cross functionally throughout the supply chain to improve and implement new technologies that will improve the stated objectives. They will support researching feasibility studies, financial justification, business case justification, and prototype or pilot implementations as needed, as well as organize and facilitate group meetings with inter-departmental project teams to direct or perform the process of assessment, design, development, pilot, implementation, and evaluation of technology programs. They will evaluate innovation and technology and serve as an internal consultant to ensure that business needs of the field are being met.
Who We Are Looking For: You.
- Seeks out innovation and technology products and vendors and conducts feasibility analysis on the applicability in HomeGoods/Homesense to achieve stated objectives.
- Analyzes the applicability of innovation, determine equipment requirements, and estimate required capital and savings for broad implementation, ROI, and business case justification.
- Supports the prototyping, testing, and pilot studies of automation pre-implementation. Works directly with key positions in Store Operations, IT, Engineering, Facilities, Finance, Transportation, GS&P and Distribution Services to develop the business case for justification as well as coordinate the pilots and implementation of new technology for the net benefit of stores.
- Develops the testing criteria for automation pilots and conducts pilot audits to ensure implementation criteria are achieved prior to network implementation. Also develops and assists in the plans for training of the new technology once implementation is approved.
- Develops and conducts post-implementation audits to verify that financial and capacity results were achieved.
- Supports development of post implementation reporting for monitoring of technology effectiveness and impact and reports to Sierra / TJX leadership on project status for all automation projects phases and progress against milestones.
- Areas include all store systems; Register POS, markdowns, Back Office Applications, Work Force Management, IT hardware and Learning platforms
- Completes special projects as assigned
- Purchasing of materials, software or equipment required for testing
- Determination and triage of applicable technology vendors
- Technology and vendor selection research and recommendations
- Responsible for accurate business case development, background source data, and justification for technology capital
- Implement most effective reporting mechanisms for project management and critical decision-making information
- Supports creation of project management plans and annual budgets for review by Senior Leadership
Qualifications
- 2-4 Years’ experience in capital justification, best practices, process engineering, and project management, preferably in a Store Operations or Store Management role.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Project Management Certification (PMI) is a plus
- Six Sigma experience or exposure at a Green Belt level
- Deep knowledge of Store Operations
- Strong presentation skills
- Deep knowledge of IT and systems relative to stores and store technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Influencing skills
- Strong knowledge/use of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

This position has a starting salary range of $72,100 to $91,800 per year.
Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
This position is hybrid and required being in the Framingham, MA office 2 days per week, it is not open to remote.
