The ideal candidate should produce business results not only for the Company but for our Partners as well. This individual should be experienced in managing and coordinating activities associated with design and construction projects for multiple types of facilities.
This person should be able to work independently with little to no supervision, and within a Team environment, collaborating both with direct reports and subordinates. This person should be extremely well organized and flexible, and enjoy the challenges associated with managing a project.
Interacting with Team Members, Architects, and subcontractors (at all levels) in a fast paced environment and sometimes under pressure, is an important part of this role. For this reason, the candidate’s ability to remain flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. Expert level verbal and written communication skills, strong decision making abilities and attention to detail are equally important.
The Construction Manager will generally perform excellent work in a physical environment that requires work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
Construction Manager Will
• Continually take a proactive approach to the resolution of their projects’ issues
• Show excellent written and verbal communication skills in a professional manner
• Accept that the position requires travel, up to and including, 100% of the time
- Travel home shall be in accordance with our Travel policy
- The Construction Manger will accept that “travel home” will be dictated by the needs of the project
- The “travel home” does not relieve the Construction Manager from their responsibilities for the project
• Assist Team Members with Pre-Construction services as necessary
• Establish a logistic plan for their assigned project(s)
• Establish a schedule for Team Members assigned at their site at the beginning of the project
• Build, maintain, and have full responsibility for the overall project schedule using scheduling software
• Produce and fulfill weekly “short interim” schedules via scheduling software
• Establish and maintain a strong relationship with our partners (clients)
• Produce and maintain required daily documentation via project management software
• Have complete knowledge and understanding of the project’s budget
• Have profit and loss responsibility for the portions of the budget under their direct control
• Manage and mentor Team Members assigned to their site(s)
• Manage project control logs (this may require the production and maintenance of the same control log depending on the project’s size)
• Conduct and chair weekly subcontractor meetings. This shall include the tracking and logging of meeting minutes utilizing the project management software
• Conduct, chair, and (if required) document weekly partner meetings
• Assist the Company’s Servant Leadership Team in establishing the project’s staffing needs
• Have full knowledge of all subcontractor, vendor contracts, and purchase orders
• Have full responsibility for ensuring quality control meets our and our Partners’ standards
• Have full responsibility for project safety, including that of all personnel (Team Members and others) on their project site(s)
• Provide scheduling and coordination with and for the Procurement Team
• Provide scheduling and coordination with and for the IT Department
• Have full management (in conjunction with the Project Manager) of Architects, Engineers, Consultants, and Designers
• Be responsible and accountable for the completion of the punchlist
• Assist in the closeout of their assigned project(s)
• Be on call 24/7 to attend to the needs of the project
• Coordinate and record all required inspections
