Primary Purpose:
Develops, supports, supervises, coordinates and evaluates the specific areas of PK-12 mathematics [PK-5 Math Dual Language and Secondary Math programs 6-12].
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for the relevant content area and ability to design curriculum aligned to the standards
- Knowledge of the STAAR exam and/or End of Course exam for the relevant content area
- Knowledge and use of Eureka Math and Carnegie Math Curricula
Experience:
- Five years of teaching experience in the relevant content area
- Three years coaching and campus and/or district leadership experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
1. Serve on the department's Leadership Team to monitor and guide the focus and actions of the department in mathematics
2. Direct the development of a system for monitoring teacher's use of effective teaching practices.
3. Provide direct services to schools as they integrate school level programs and District initiatives.
4. Lead and coordinate district-wide committees related to instructional program improvement.
5. Facilitate central office curriculum specialists as they focus on the curriculum development needed to improve student assessment measures which are linked to district initiatives.
6. Successfully develop and evaluate appropriate curriculum and instruction mathematics staff.
7. Observe and offer formal and informal feedback to curriculum specialists and partners concerning planning and instructional delivery.
8. Design professional learning in collaboration with curriculum specialists and partners, centered around the ILTexas mission and vision.
9. Develop, coordinate and participate in professional learning days.
10. Meet with parents and community groups to serve as a spokesperson for the district's instructional programs.
11. Demonstrate cost consciousness and operational efficiency while performing the duties of this position.
Policy, Reports, and Law
12. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
13. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Additional Duties
14. Any and all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of the math curriculum staff.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; may work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide and statewide travel
