This position is responsible for providing administrative support to Underwriters related to the sale, servicing and renewal of insurance policies offered through our Programs division. They must work effectively with coworkers, carrier partners, vendors, and clients to support the timely service and growth of our Program business. This position assists with the prequalification, quotation and binding processes on both new and renewal business.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to Underwriters
- Review new and renewal applications for accuracy. Obtain missing information and generate the prequalification documents needed for new and renewal quotes as required by the Underwriter.
- From multiple sources gather and data enter, underwriting information into the rating system to generate the initial rating for both new and renewal accounts.
- Interact with Resource Pro as directed by the underwriter including initiating task requests, data quality reviews, finalizing a task and filling completed tasks into ImageRight.
- Interact with insurance carrier partners, vendors and producers, as required.
- Verify policy accuracy, issue policies, coordinate the issuance of claims kits, send acknowledgement letters, order OFAC, and set up and process premium billings.
- Receive and process routine policy service requests and maintain expiration list.
- Process endorsements.
- Follow up on pending matters.
- Resolve service problems promptly.
- Order reports and filings from third party vendors as needed
- Coordinate and prepare materials required for formal client presentations using approved templates and based on discussions with team members.
- Create, document and maintain underwriting files in Program agency management systems AIM, ImageRight and carrier policy administration systems per established company guidelines.
Education and/or Experience
Successful candidate will be a service oriented individual with high personal standards and a hands-on work style. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working at a varying pace, managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, adjusting priorities often, and managing frequent interruptions.
This position interacts with and provides service to a large group of internal associates and has high levels of contact with external vendors. The Underwriting Assistant must be positive and approachable, and work effectively with diverse personalities. In addition, the following is required unless otherwise noted:
- High school graduate with a favorable GPA in math.
- Ability to learn and use automated agency management and underwriting systems.
- Highly proficient with personal computer and MS Office (particularly Excel).
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to resolve problems and present results neatly, with clarity and precision in oral and written form.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement short-and long-range goals.
- Ability to exercise judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
- Maintain a valid unrestricted Property & Casualty Solicitor’s License and meet continuing education requirements.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Attendance at off-site functions may be required once or twice a month
The applicable hourly rate range for this role is $17.57 to $37.42. The hourly rate offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
