Job Overview
We are seeking a Special Inspector to conduct construction material testing and special inspections on commercial projects in Elmira, New York.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality control/quality assurance tests and inspections for soils, concrete, masonry, structural steel, hot mix asphalt, spray-applied fireproofing, welding, and geotechnical investigations.
- Review construction plans and specifications and accurately interpret testing results.
- Document and submit clear, detailed field records and daily project reports.
- Regularly communicate with supervisors to provide updates on project details.
- Complete testing assignments following relevant standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
- Certification in at least one of the following: ICC Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Soils, Masonry, Fireproofing, Steel & Bolt, Steel & Weld), ACI Grade 1, or EIT Certificate.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and clients, with effective communication and progress reporting.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Compensation: up to $32/hour
