Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hireWire EDM Programmer/Operator job near Rochester, NY for our client, an innovative manufacturer of quality projects for the medical field. This is an overnight, 3rd shift position, working 10:30 pm – 6:30 am. The Wire EDM Programmer and Operator programs, sets up, and operates wire EDM machines along with a variety of other machine tools, working from part prints, process sheets, quality documentation, and CAD models to produce precision components to print. Our client is offering an hourly pay rate of between $25.00 to $36.00 per hour plus an excellent benefits package that starts on day one! Relocation assistance is available for candidates outside the Rochester, NY area.
Responsibilities for the Wire EDM Programmer job in Rochester, NY include:
- Read and understand part drawings and basic GD&T.
- Set-up, run, and troubleshoot production parts.
- Monitor parts throughout production by visual observation and dimensional measurement to ensure parts meet the specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment.
- Work with other departments on projects, designs, and process improvements.
- Program, set-up, and operate wire EDM machines (primarily Fanuc controls).
- Program and troubleshoot complex tool paths using CAM-I.
- Perform and document preventative maintenance on lower heads of machine, wire chopper, and clean seal plates.
- Set-up and run Hole Popper.
- Make custom parts for prototypes.
- Perform set-up, run and make required machine adjustments independently.
- Write and edit complex EDM programs without supervision.
- Work closely with Engineering during Prototyping, Engineering Evaluation, etc.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of trade school preferred.
- 1-2 years’ EDM machine operation experience minimum and qualified for lower end of the pay scale OR
- 3-5 years’ minimum experience programming wire EDM’s qualified for mid-range of the pay scale - . OR
- Higher pay rate if you have: 6+ years’ minimum experience programming, setting-up, and operating wire EDM’s.
- Strong understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
- Able to run variety of shop equipment.
- Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment.
- Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals.
- Capable of programing complex tool paths.
- CAM-I program experience preferred.
- Capable of programming, setting-up, and running EDM independently.
- Capable of writing and editing complex EDM programs without supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
