The Director, Government Relations-Phoenix/ Austin executes a comprehensive government relations strategy through engagement with local, regional, and state elected officials and key leaders in Arizona and Texas.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Analyzing potential legislative and regulatory threats for impact on the business and degree of risk/opportunity, as well as developing strategic responses.
- Works directly with Arizona and Texas market and hospital leadership to ensure all are informed of legislative and policy movement of consequence. Uses internal subject matter expertise to gather all relevant information on operational impact of legislative and regulatory proposals.
- Delivers presentations on policy and legislative issues, both internally and externally
- In Arizona and Texas, develops and manages relationships with key elected officials, community leaders, and organizations on the local, state, and federal levels to achieve system public policy and business development goals
- Supports political activities and grassroots advocacy, represents department at assigned meetings, and manages other GR programs as assigned.
- Direct and annual contract review and execution, working with the Vice President, Government Relations.
- Directly lobbies Arizona and Texas state legislators, governors and their administrations, and local elected officials on matters of importance.
- Responsibilities include managing external consultants/lobbyists and annual contract review and execution, working with the Vice President, Government Relations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in related discipline.
- Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience, including legislative, agency, trade association, corporate, and/or other government relations experience in Arizona or Texas for the Arizona-based position.
- Healthcare issue background experience, preferred.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
